Annually the Port and International Department of Norfolk Southern hosts meetings at a facility owned by the Railroad near Charleston, South Carolina. These two day meetings include presentations by Norfolk Southern economists and commodity managers on their specific areas of expertise. The information garnered at this meeting is very valuable to the Alabama State Port Authority as a business to exchange ideas. Norfolk Southern provides lodging, food, and entertainment during the course of these two day meetings. The meeting sessions generally run half day with recreational opportunities offered the remaining part of the day. The Alabama State Port Authority will pay for transportation to and from Charleston for the two executives attending.
