Every June, the Sodexo Universities Division in Alabama hosts a Client Summer Meeting in Birmingham, for our university partner institutions in Alabama, that includes a barbecue dinner reception, a golf outing, accommodations and hospitality for the event. June 11th – Dinner at Courtyard Marriott Hoover and June 12th – Golf at Bent Brook Golf Course. This gathering is an opportunity for officials of the universities where we provide our services to interact with a variety of key subject experts in our company on the latest trends and service offerings for universities, such as sustainability, benefits of energy saving foodservice equipment, etc. It also gives them an opportunity to network with their peers from the other institutions and discuss best practices. Additionally, before the evening reception, we will include an education piece that will entail a presentation and resource materials. This year we will address the Student Food Insecurity issues on campuses and programs and initiatives that Sodexo is implementing at universities across the country, as well as, brainstorm with our clients on how to address these issues on their campus. Our Sodexo representatives are available during the golf event, as well, allowing further discussion on the variety of industry topics and trends. At the golf outing, players receive a round of golf to include green fee and cart, golf accessories for the round, which in the past has included golf balls, tees, hats, shirts, sunscreen and like items. Sodexo understands that the employees of the state institutions are only allowed to receive promotional items or items that fall into the de minimis classification. This event allows our Alabama partners to not only network with their peers from other universities in the state, but also talk with multiple key representatives from our organization who collectively work to enhance the programs and experiences for the students at their universities. *Events are June 11 & 12.
