Purpose/Event:
Downtown Mobile District Management Corporation & Downtown Mobile Alliance Annual Meeting and Main Street Awards Luncheon. The luncheon will be held in the Moonlight Ballroom at the Battle House Hotel. The speaker will be renowned author, real estate researcher, professor, and developer Christopher Leinberger. The annual meeting is the event during which the Corporation reports on their activities to revitalize downtown the previous year and the opportunities for the coming year. The Main Street Awards are given out to individuals and organizations that have undertaken important works during the previous year. The event concludes with the keynote speaker — usually an inspirational speaker, knowledgeable about city redevelopment. Often, the mayor makes brief remarks. This has not been confirmed for 2019. Tables of ten are sold to businesses and individuals who then have the ability to invite interested parties. Table purchasers may extend an invitation to a public official, if they choose. Usually, the city and county both purchase tables to fill as they wish. Individual tickets are available for purchase in a limited number. Additionally, a smaller reception of 75-100 individuals is organized for Thursday evening or Friday morning, depending on the speaker's schedule. Sponsors, board members, and elected officials will be invited. The Downtown Mobile Alliance Chairman will introduce the speaker who will then make remarks and take questions. Light hors d'oeuvres will be passed and beverages will be provided for the evening event. A light breakfast may be served at the breakfast event.
