Purpose/Event:
The Alabama Municipal Electric Authority is hosting their 2020 Economic Development Roundtable and Dinner at the Wynlakes Country Club in Montgomery, AL. Dinner and beverages will be provided to those in attendance. AMEA is a public corporation of the State of Alabama organized in 1981. AMEA is a so-called "joint-action" agency, created to enable certain municipalities and municipal instrumentalities which own electric distribution systems to act collectively in obtaining bulk electric power and energy. AMEA furnishes bulk wholesale electric power and energy to 11 municipal "members," including the cities of Alexander City, Dothan, Fairhope, LaFayette, Lanett, Opelika and Piedmont, the Electric Board of the City of Luverne, and the Utilities Board of the City of Foley, the Utilities Board of the City of Sylacauga and the Utilities Board of the City of Tuskegee, respectively. These municipal electric systems pay AMEA for electric power and energy supplied at wholesale and other services provided by AMEA, but, do not pay AMEA "dues."
