The Conference is anticipating 150 attendees, 25 of which will be elected or public officials. The Healthcare Summit to the Governor, Lieutenant Gov., President Pro Tempore of the Senate, Speaker of the House, Caucus Chairs of each respective House, legislative members of the House and Senate's Health Committee and General Fund Committee, as well as staff members from the aforementioned offices. The program will also include the Commissioner of the Department of Mental Health and appropriate staff, and the State Health Officer along with members from the; Alabama Department of Public Health, and the State Attorney General.
Purpose/Event:
The Alabama Hospital Association is hosting its inaugural Healthcare Summit at the Ross Bridge Resort in Hoover, Alabama. The conference will allow attendees to hear from multiple program speakers, participate in panel discussions, and participate in breakout sessions regarding topics such as the state's mental health crisis and the ongoing battle surrounding the opioid epidemic. The conference will include a wide stakeholder group to include hospital CEOs, business leaders, and public and elected officials. This conference is to serve as an opportunity to address issues on the current mental health crisis in the state, highlighting various efforts across a multitude of stakeholders, to find appropriate solutions. The list of invited public officials will include a large diversity of viewpoints and different interests and shall meet the statutory definition of a widely attended event. Hotel accommodations will be provided for one night at the Renaissance Ross Bridge with light refreshments offered on Friday night, and an accompanying breakfast on Saturday morning before programing begins, all to be provided by the Alabama Hospital Association.
