Purpose/Event:
Spire Gulf, Inc. will host a large reception as part of the festivities accompanying the Senior Bowl in Mobile on February 5, 2022 in connection with the 2022 Senior Bowl. Admission to the Spire Gulf, Inc. reception requires an armband, of which there are 700. Spire Gulf, Inc. will not provide tickets to the Senior Bowl game to any public, elected officials or employees. The total cost of the reception is $32,365.30. Of this amount, $18,250 will be spent on food, beverages and entertainment and $14,115.30 will be spent on the rental for tent, tables, chairs, linens and decorations. Thus the total cost per person (with 700 invitees) is $46.23 if all of the costs are included and $26.O7 per person if only food, beverages and hospitality costs are included. Historically, the event has had a profound impact on the area's economy. A comprehensive study conducted by the University of South Alabama concluded that the 2015 Senior Bowl had a total monetary impact of approximately $27 million dollars. According to the study, revenues created from sales taxes alone by out-of-town guests was between $637,665 and $722,194 in Mobile. It was further determined that the combined city, county and state tax fiscal impact produced by Senior Bowl events was estimated at $1,735,304 and $1,866,583.
