Invitees:
All appellate court judges in Alabama and certain candidates for appellate court judgeships. In addition, certain legislators and certain candidates for the Legislature will he invited. ALAI will maintain a list of public officials and candidates who attend the meeting, which will be available for review. ALAJ anticipates that more than 100 people will attend.
Purpose/Event:
The Alabama Association for Justice (ALAJ"), will he holding its 2022 Mid-Winter Conference on February 2-4, at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook. Alabama. The conference is organized around a formal program or agenda of educational or informational sessions, panel discussions with questions and answers, and/or other presentations concerning legal issues of interest to members of the Alabama Association for Justice. Attorneys will have the opportunity to obtain continuing legal education credits. No hotel accommodations will he provided to these public officials or candidates, but they will be invited to attend and actively participate in the Mid-Winter Conference presentations and other events in the same fashion as other attendees. At each reception and break, there will be pick-up food and drinks provided to all members and guests. Brigadier General lama McKennie of the Alabama Air National Guard will attend the meeting and give a presentation on Ethics. General McKennie will be invited to attend all events at the meeting and will be provided hotel accommodations for one night. It may also he important to note that certain vendors are general "sponsors" (although they are called Fellows) for ALAJ. They pay a certain amount of money annually. In exchange, they receive (1) complimentary registration at the ALAJ Annual Convention and Mid-Winter Conference; (2) priority booth placement at all ALAI events (not necessarily limited to the Annual and Mid-Winter meetings); (3) Special invitations to all ALAJ events throughout the year; (4) Special Fellows Only events with ALAJ leadership at ALAJ meetings; (5) special recognition on ALAJ marketing materials; and (6) Recognition from ALAI leadership at ALAI events. The following vendors will be called the sponsors of particular events at the Mid-Winter Conference even though, with the exceptions noted below, they will pay nothing extra that identification. Sponsors at this year's conference are Veritext, Forge Consulting, Physician Life Care Planning, and Emerging Leaders. Physician Life Care Planning will also sponsor, and pay the cost of, the ALAJ Executive Committee breakfast. There are not presently, but may be, other paying sponsors for the Sustaining member luncheon and for refreshments during breaks between program presentations. ALAJ will maintain a list of such additional sponsorships should they occur and provide that information to you upon request.
