All judges on the Alabama Supreme Court and the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals. Some of them may be speakers on the agenda or on panels during the program.
Purpose/Event:
The Alabama Defense Lawyers Association is hosting its Annual Meeting at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort located in Destin, Florida. The meeting is organized around a formal program of educational and informational lectures, panel discussions and/or other presentations concerning legal issues of interest to members of ADLA. The attendees receive Continuing Legal Education (CLE) hours, as pre-approved by the Alabama State Bar Association. ADLA offers to pay for accommodations for the judges and does not charge the judges for the registration fee to attend the CLE program or the group meals and group activities that are held on the conference site. ADLA only pays for 3 nights for the judges, which must be the nights during the CLE program, which includes the nights the 3 receptions are held. ADLA does not pay for judges' meals or activities that are not directly related to its conference. If a judge wishes to play in the golf tournament, ADLA requires the same payment ($150) from the judge that is required from others who play in the tournament. This is a widely attended event. * Cannot be used as an opportunity to corruptly influence official action.
