Purpose/Event:
Governor Kay Ivey will host the Alabama Governor's One-Shot Turkey Hunt. The Alabama Department of Commerce will partner with the Governor's Office and ADCNR/ACNRF in the planning and presentation of the Hunt. The Governor's One-Shot Turkey Hunt will raise funds for the ACNRF to fund scholarships at both Auburn University and the University of Alabama. The purpose of the Governor's Hunt is to showcase Alabama as the preferred destination for business, industry and nature-based tourism. The event will enhance our state's image by putting Alabama in the global spotlight. The Hunt strives to strengthen relationships with existing Alabama industry leaders and to develop relationships with new industry prospects, while highlighting Alabama's bountiful natural resources. The event is hosted and funded by the Alabama Conservation and Natural Resources Foundation (ACNRF), with help from individuals from the Alabama Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (ADCNR), the Alabama Department of Commerce, and the Governor's Office, as well as individuals and corporations from the private sector. No state funds are expended. This event will also further enhance knowledge about and support for the ACNRF, which is committed to connecting Alabama's citizens with its natural resources for outdoor recreation as well as providing food for the hungry, youth hunts and women's outdoor events, while strengthening our state's economy in the process. Attendees, including sponsors, their hunters, and other guests, may receive clothing, hunting products, meals, etc., in excess of $25. They will also receive lodging free of charge as well as attendance at the banquet free of charge to promote attendance at this event. All benefits received by participants are provided by the ACNRF as part of the economic development aspect of the event. It is anticipated that the event will involve approximately 75-90 individuals who will participate in the hunt. The 3-day event will include a "Fly Down Social" and an Awards Luncheon that will involve between approximately 250 and 500 guests. Private landowners and guides will provide accommodations and turkey-hunting guide service to the hunting participants at no charge to further the economic development aspect of the event. *Contingent upon providing the following prior to event: 1.
