Event Description: The Kentucky Distillers' Association are organizing an information-gathering trip for several Alabama Legislators and a Speaker's Office staff member to visit Kentucky on Friday, Oct. 4 and Saturday Oct. 5. The main purpose is to illuminate the distilling industry's push into spirits-based Ready-to-Drink cocktails, as well as the rise in hemp-product-infused beverages. As Kentucky is a national leader in modernizing alcohol-related legislation and regulations in response to changing consumer demand -- including related tax-code, distribution and retail market access -- the Commonwealth and the KDA offer unique insight. Additionally, the Alabama group's lead organizer, Rep. Andy Whitt, expressed interest in Kentucky's approach to gaming, horse racing and lottery. We therefore are working to schedule meetings with relevant Kentucky officials, legislative leaders and an afternoon visit to Keeneland, the historic venue for Thoroughbred Racing in Lexington, Ky.
